19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts
A revitalized Medvedev won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.
Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just one match at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.
Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested competitive win over challenger Moutet.
It is his maiden championship following the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from March of the previous year.
Success also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my children together, so to win a title is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six finals, including in that event previously this season.
Medvedev's defensive strategy and frequent reactions on court had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.
But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an improved service.
He fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.
The pair traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to push for a final set.
Moutet rescued 4 initial break points in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to close out the victory.
Suitably, Medvedev earned the win with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
