Vehicles in Germany's City Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement State

Officers reported they were contacted by a resident who noticed a automobile in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.

Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.

Police say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Officers then located multiple other marked automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Police say early analysis show the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; investigators are currently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they added.

Local authorities said they were working "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for information.

A senior representative commented the attack rendered him without words and required to be resolved quickly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on online, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a shooter targeting people of migrant background in February 2020.
